Sculpture Studio Visit January 2006 - Youth visit Howard University's Sculpture Studio and speak with Akili Ron Anderson. His large wooden sculptures amaze youth participants and teach them about the legacy of African kings and queens.

Youth Media Arts Project on Drug Prevention
July - October 2008 - Youth participate in media arts project with Aalia Group, Inc. Students learn how to use media equipment from cameramen and visit local television studio in Arlington, VA. They develop their acting skills for Youth-designed drug prevention commercials.

Lincoln Theatre Tour (Youth from January 30, 2007 - Youth from Takoma Park Recreation Center and Ward 4 schools visit historic Lincoln theatre and learn about stage production, lighting, theatre seating, and history of great African American performers during Harlem Renaissance.

Thai Cooking Workshop & Soul Food Workshop March 22, 2008 - Raising Expectations, Inc. hosted Thai Culinary Workshop for 25 youth and adults in partnership with artBeat Collective, Inc. & the Latin American Youth Center’s Art & Media House. The workshop was led by local artist and chef, Taw Vigsittaboot, owner of the DC restaurant "Thai X-ing."

Photography Art Learning Workshops
November 2008 - Youth learn how to use cameras and take pictures based on composition and lighting. They also design and edit photographs for framing.

Back to School Family Fun Day
August 31, 2008 - R.E. organizes a fun day outdoors with bbq grill food, live musical entertainment and DJ. Families from the Congress Heights neighborhood in Southeast also enjoyed football and soccer sports games, cotton candy and snowcones for summer community event.

Joy of Dance Workshop Series
January 19 - February 19, 2010 - R.E dance instructor, Nana Malaya of the Nubian Institute, provided dance lessons to youth in Ward 8 SouthEast, DC. After workshop series, group of girls performed at Ferebee Hope School Auditorium in front of family and friends. Project supported by the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative.
